Hey, I am Sara and I am 45 years old, I have two children; well adults now. My Daughter is 20 and my son is 26. I have been teaching fitness classes for just over 11 years now. I so wish I had got into fitness in my 20`s; I am a lot fitter now than I was back then!
Fitness for me is a massive help with my Mental Health. My previous partner and father of my daughter committed suicide when she was 4 years old. It brought on depression, anxiety and panic attacks and changed me as a person. My mum and sister-in-law dragged me to a local Zumba® class. The thought of going to a group fitness class was really daunting as at the time I was struggling to go to the local shops. I remember feeling so self-conscious and out of my comfort zone. However, the instructor was super friendly and as soon as that music came on I knew this was for me. I smiled that whole hour and loved every minute of it. I got to briefly forget about everything and get lost in the music and movement. I wanted to be like that instructor, to be able to help others feel the way that instructor made me feel. They say exercise is the most underutilised antidepressant and I completely agree, many people are just afraid of making that first move.
From that first class I went onto train to become an instructor and run my own Zumba® classes, became qualified as a Jungle Body® Instructor and became a Jungle Body® UK Ambassador. I then fell in love with Totally Shredded®; becoming an Instructor and then a Master Trainer for the Brand.
I have been working with Carly for 10 years, we met when she started attending my Zumba® classes. She soon became an instructor herself and together we have gone on to present as some of the biggest fitness events alongside some of the best presenters in the UK. We are super excited to have joined the M-Fit family and represent this amazing Brand and be able to share our passion for fitness with everyone.
During Covid and lockdown all our face-to-face classes stopped, and most instructors were forced to take their classes online. I was so grateful for this as lockdown had devastating effects on many people’s mental health so the fact, we could still connect albeit via social media, zoom etc and keep people moving was a life saver not just for students but for us too. Online workouts have now become super popular so it’s great to be able to carry on teaching online as part of the M-Fit Team now via Boon TV.
Fitness for me keeps me balanced. Hitting 40 I certainly found I needed to work a little harder to hit my goals, but I also feel like I have a little more discipline too. Don't get me wrong I love my food and I enjoy the odd G&T but I am more aware of my health these days (both physical and mental) and how valuable it is as you get older. I also have learnt it’s never too late to start on this journey.

CARLY

My name is Carly and I'm a Mum of two fabulous kids.
My fitness journey began after the birth of my daughter when I wanted to tackle the weight gained through the pregnancy. I had lost almost 2 and a half stone following a healthy eating plan but struggled to shift the last few pounds. It was time to get exercising but I knew I would never commit to the gym so went on the hunt for group workouts instead.
I first met Sara in June 2011 when I attended a Zumba® class where she was the Instructor and absolutely loved it! Within 2 months of attending classes Sara had recruited me to train up and become an Instructor too!
Following a succession of my own classes I was then introduced to THE JUNGLE BODY® in 2013 and their Flagship programme KONGA. An all over body conditioning workout.
Since then, I have not looked back. I have been working as part of the Fitness Industry for almost 10 years now, becoming an Ambassador for THE JUNGLE BODY and a Master Trainer in both TOTALLY SHREDDED® and SHREDBATA®. Sara and I have been involved in some fantastic events and experiences over the years and have had the honour of presenting alongside some of the industry's most elite.
At 41 I feel fitter than ever and thrive on pushing myself to do new challenges. Together, we are a winning team and always looking for the next hurdle to tackle!
